SAPPORO , Japan, October 30, 2018 /DMR/ – The “2018 International Animation Festival of the new Chitose Airport” will be held from November 2 (Friday) to November 5 (Monday). This festival, organized in the airport terminal, celebrates its fifth anniversary. It is an international festival to promote exchanges between national and international artists and fans of animation and its world culture. The festival is held in the cinema on the 4th floor of the national flight terminal.
The competition programs are the axis of the festival. In the competition of shorts, 76 short films of 2043 works sent from 86 countries and regions around the world were selected, 5 films will be screened for the film competition, a section that has been established this year.
The festival also has a special program. The film “Liz and the Blue Bird” will be screened by the creators of “La forma de la voz” with powerful sound equipment that is normally used for live performances. Its director, Naoko Yamada , will visit the festival to greet from the stage. The Hokkaido region will also welcome “Homecomings & Naoya Sanuki” a band based in Kyoto that will present for the first time “New Neighbors”, a collaborative event between music and films. The screening of ” Isla de perros” will be accompanied by a live acoustic performance by Homecomings. In addition, the festival will show several other programs, including the Bakuon projection (explosive sound) of “Makoto Shinkai and a special free screening of “Summer Camp” that will be broadcast next year on Cartoon Network.
